International and Cross-Border Lawyers in Bangalore
We advise foreign companies, overseas law firms, NRIs and Indian businesses on matters that cross borders. This includes cross-border contracts, enforcement of foreign judgments and awards, international arbitration, NRI property and family matters, legal document verification, and paralegal support for overseas law firms.
Overview
Indian law for matters that cross borders
When one party is outside India, questions arise about which law applies, which court decides and how an order is enforced. We advise on the Indian side of these questions.
We work with foreign clients and law firms by email and video call, and coordinate with counsel in other countries where needed.

Good to know
Things to know
Foreign judgments are not automatic
Judgments from “reciprocating territories” such as the UK, Singapore and the UAE can be executed under Section 44A of the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908. Others need a fresh suit.
India follows the New York Convention
Foreign arbitral awards from Convention countries notified by India can be enforced in Indian courts.
Choose the law and forum early
A clear governing law and dispute clause saves time and cost if a dispute arises.
NRIs can act through a power of attorney
A properly executed and attested power of attorney lets a trusted person act for you in India.
